WHO WE ARE---

In September of 1993, twenty Chief Petty Officers gathered at the home of Chief James Philips in Ocala and founded what is now the FLORIDA CHIEF PETTY OFFICERS ASSOCIATION. We still have a few of those Chiefs on our roster. Chief JIM PHILIPS & Chief DICK ANDRE were there.

We have grown in membership to more than 300 since 1993. While we have had others serve as President of our organization, Bill Glover, has served for many years. Often when we could not find anyone to fill the position, rather than see it fold, Bill could always be relied upon to grab the HELM.

Unfortunately Bill passed away in October of 2003.    He is truly missed.

We get together twice a year, in the Spring and Fall. Our Spring meeting is to celebrate the birthday of the establishment of the rank of CHIEF PETTY OFFICER. At our meetings we try to have activities enjoyed by all. We often have a RIVER CRUISE, some with lunch or dinner. Several times we have visited a Naval Museum and if our location is suitable we often take a tour of an active duty NAVAL SHIP. We recently had a Caribbean Cruise. We normally have a HOSPITALITY ROOM where we all get together for jokes, stories as well as refreshments. Spouses are invited and many have more fun than the Chief.

Our Association is open to CPOs of both the US NAVY as well as the US COAST GUARD. The yearly dues are $10.00 a year.
